Spring Into It; Customize Outfits to Your Tastes

I always feel like spring is the time for reinvention. And with the warmer weather finally inducing the crowds of females clad in tank tops and skirts walking your establishments halls, you should step away from those identical zombies and reinvent the tank top and skirt combo. Here's how.

To begin, we have the basics. This is what the typical female would wear if
wanting to give off the air of casual-dressy at school. My shirt is a light, semi transparent cropped top with pink, white and green flower detailing from Charlotte Russe. My short, grey high waisted skirt with pockets is from Bluenotes ( a very long time ago). So how, might you wonder, do we achieve a unique outfit fitted to your tastes?? Look below.

Outfit #1: Modern Bohemian

If you are feeling like channeling your inner hippie this season, try using this inspiration. I added a crocheted flower detail vest from Garage, and a silver seashell and purple bead necklace from a store in the UK called Fat Face, creating an effortless, free spirited (and Coachella inspired) outfit for the warmer weather.
I also added the touch of a loose braid to complete the bohemian styled take on the typical skirt and tank combination. To recap, loose flowery or knitted vests/cardigans + detailed and beach-vibe style necklaces = boho perfection!

Outfit #2: Edgy Inspiration

This outfit showcases the edgier, rock chic side of the tank and skirt combo. I paired the original floral top and grey skirt with a dark blue denim shirt with stud detailing on the collarbone from American Eagle, and a silver necklace with three triangular pendants from Forever 21 to create the edgy vibe.
To add to your edgy outfit, you could include several silver rings and either  a) put your hair into a high, messy bun, or b) do your hair in a messy but precise fishtail side braid. Believe it or not, a fishtail provides a little more edginess. Remember, a darker, heavier top with metallic details + a matching metallic necklace or accessory = a classy kind of edge to that typical outfit!

So, I hope that I have provided some sort of base on which you can build upon to create your new personal style! Remember, stay true to what YOU want to wear, not what's on trend or what you're friends are wearing. I always keep this quote in mind when getting ready in the morning; "I admire anyone with their own sense of personal style" - Nicole Richie.
xoxo, G.
P.S. Tell me what your personal style is and what you would do to spice up the skirt and tank combo in the comments section!
