Simply Love - My Current Favourites and Addictions

Hi beauties,
I am so thrilled to officially begin The Simply Styled blog. I use the term officially since my first blog post was not truly a representation of the content I will be posting. If you have glanced at the title of this entry, you have probably realized that this is the first post on The Simply Styled that contains content! Even better, this entry follows the guidelines that I (loosely) constructed for this site. However, if I continue blurting out sentences on how I am officially starting this, those guidelines will be heading directly towards the drain. So, lets begin.

Youtube is in fact an extremely valuable resource (excluding the felines prancing around and mindless tricks going wrong), where many people share their thoughts with the world. Style and beauty youtubers or 'beauty gurus' are the inspiration for this post. They focus their videos around beauty, fashion and lifestyle, and I love the fact that they can share what they care about with everyone. One of the videos that many 'beauty guru's' create monthly rituals out of is the "current favourites" video, where they list and explain each item they have been enjoying for said month. I thought it would be a great start to The Simply Styled and a way for you to get to know me better if I began with a current favourites post, but modified to suit the blogosphere universe. Hope you enjoy!

Favourites For The Body

Firstly, I have been thoroughly adoring the OPI Nail Lacquer in the shade Sweet Heart. It is a nude-coloured polish with an underlying touch of pink. I love it because it is not too feminine, and it is neutral, meaning it will compliment most outfits and jewelry. I also love the fact that it makes my skin look more tan than it truly is. It is lighter than my current skin colour, so it gives a sense that my skin is darker than normal in the sun depriving winter months. Secondly, the Vitabath Beach Blossom body wash.  It smells like iced tea, which is my all-time favourite drink next to regular tea (what a shock), mixed with the beach, tropical flowers, and happiness. I am assuming that it is intended to use in the summer months, when the scent corresponds with your drinks and surroundings, however I could not resist using it as soon as I received it. It is also sulphate and paraben free and enriched with many vitamins, meaning it is great for you too! My next current favourite is my nourishing foot cream. It may sound unnecessary and strange, but I promise that your feet will thank you. I received it from my brother for Christmas last year, and it makes your feet extremely soft by using only a miniscule amount. Also, it makes them smell delicious for several days, eliminating that unpleasant odor that often comes with warm and wet winter boots. The two green and pink bottles are the best skincare  products I have ever used. They come from the Clear Start brand from Dermalogica. This brand is designed for teens and is gentle on the skin. The green bottle is a day and night face cleanser, and not only does it work wonders, but it lasts forever! I have had this bottle since July, and there is still a fair amount left, and I use it morning and night daily. I have never had a bad breakout while using this product. The pink tube is a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15.  It does not work like a concealer or BB cream, it just barely shows up on your skin, and you only need to use the tiniest dab. It has a miniscule shimmer to it, and just shows enough to brighten up your face. Needless to say, I love the Dermalogica brand and these two products. And finally, the typical favourite that is pointless to include, but I will nonetheless. The sweet mint EOS lip balm. I love the taste and feeling of it when I put it on, and how well it works. I suffered from extremely chapped lips as a child, and most likely still would if I didn't apply this balm frequently. Just like every other female on the face of the earth, it is EOS all the way.

Style Favourites
Fashion is a passion of mine, and I have a style that some would consider quirky. I love these pieces, and as long as you love what is in your closet, you should flaunt it. On the left, the two main pieces are the two that I have been wearing (far too often, might I add) this month. They are both from Hollister, and although I do not agree at all with the Abercrombie & Hollister morals, I will admit that they have my favourite and best-fitting basics. My cardigan is grey, with brown tortoiseshell-esque buttons halfway down. The back is loosely stitched, so you can partially see what you have on underneath. I love this sweater because it is warm and it is unique while being basic enough to style with anything. The pants are a simple, tight-fitting and semi-highwaisted design in a maroon/burgundy colour. I needed a pair of these desperately, as they are a basic that you can use to upgrade a plain outfit. The centre photo features a red, grey, and blue plaid shirt with a hint of yellow, dressed up with a bold eagle statement necklace. I discovered both of these pieces at my local 'high end' thrift store. The flannel is originally from American Eagle, and I love it because it is warm and compliments my blond hair. The eagle necklace I fell in love with at first sight, and my mother took notice of this.  I soon after found it in my presence on Christmas Day. It is separated into three parts; the outer wings are gold, the inner wings are bronze/rose gold, and the body is silver. It was so my style, I just had to have it. The right image displays a bold pair of printed leggings from a Californian brand named Teeki. The even more interesting aspect of these leggings is the fact that they are made out of recycled BPA free plastic water bottles. Being the eternal treehugger, I downright adore these. They are cozy, feature a breathtaking pattern, and have a comfy, thick waistband.

Random Favourites
This may look like an odd assortment of things, and that is exactly what they are. This is the random favourites section, after all. My first and most likely favourite item is the Katy Perry Prism album. Katy Perry is a major inspiration and role model of mine. I have been loving her music ever since I was introduced to it scandalously at a friends birthday party in grade 4, my first time openly hearing the f-bomb. Maybe it was simply due the sheer pleasure that came from doing something we weren't supposed to, but Katy Perry has been my greatest idol and artist for 5 plus years, her new album confirming this love even more. It is so fresh and different, but still contains everything about Katy that I adore. My favourite songs are 'Birthday', 'This Moment', 'This Is How We Do', and 'Ghost'. The next item is the Country Chic B&BW perfume. I picked it up at their massive 75% off clearout for approximately $7, originally being $30. Before this, I wore only body mist, but I wanted a stronger scent that would withstand my average day. I have the Country Chic body mist (and call it perfection), so I knew that I could depend on this scent. My instincts were correct. It smells fresh, clean, and not overwhelmingly sweet. I apply it to my neck, wrists, and add a spritz in the air to twirl around in. The next item is likely the object that your eyes found most unique out of this plethora of  'stuff', and it is the most unique (through technicality) out of this array. The peach, mango, and orange flavoured (yes, all-in-one) Nesfruta beverage enhancer. May I just add, Nesfruta is quite positively the most revolting name possible for a beverage enhancer, but I guess Nestle had to advertise a portion of their label somehow. Minus the disheartening name, this is delicious. I add 2-3 squirts of it to a bottle/glass of water and it tastes like a rainforest exploded inside of my taste buds. I love it because I simply throw it into my backpack or purse, and when I become overwhelmed by the rocketing and ridiculous pricing of a simple iced tea, whip it out and voila! Delicious and cheap drink. The candle you see to the right of the beverage enhancer is in the gorgeous scent of 'Leaves' by B&BW. Leaves? You might ponder this smell, knowing that fallen leaves may look beautiful but truly smell of dirt and rotting photosynthesis at its finest. I assure you, B&BW  captured the scent that comes from the time of the year when leaves are the reigning star of the season instead. Fall at its finest, I prefer to call it. It smells of apple cider, warm fireplaces, and has spicy undertones. Although it is not fall anymore, I like to bring back the memory by lighting this candle. And finally, the last of the last (but not least). This stunning burgundy wristlet with gold detailing. I received it for Christmas, and I believe it is from Indigo. I love this, but I have not gotten the chance to wear it yet (formal occasions do not often present themselves to a girl who enjoys Gossip Girl marathons on Netflix and peanut butter by the handful). I hope to wear it very soon, because I really want an opportunity to flaunt it's perfect colour and gold zipper.

That is it for my first official post, I am extremely sorry about the gargantuan length of it. I have many favourites at the moment that I want to share with you. I hope this benefited you in some way shape or form, and was not just a pain in the behind that you wish you had not read.
xoxo, G
